≡ galeries bibliographie expositions liens contact geneviève regache payan en 1982 j’ai été initiée à la photo noir et blanc « argentique » par ... sebastiao salgado, jeune photographe brésilien pas encore mondialement connu. il parcourait l’amérique du sud et s’arrêta à riobamba, ville du haut plateau andin (equateur) où je vivais alors. il me demanda de lui faciliter l’entrée dans deux villages indiens : cacha et agua santa. afin de me remercier, il m’initia au développement des pellicules et au tirage des photos en noir et blanc. cela aurait dû lancer ma « carrière » de photographe... et bien, non ! j’ai attendu 20 ans... pour m’y remettre sérieusement mais cette rencontre avec sebastiao salgado a déterminé le style de photos et de rencontres que j’aime toujours faire, lors de mes lointains voyages. membre du collectif art’gentik73, je photographie donc essentiellement en noir et blanc, utilisant le procédé argentique. je développe les films, effectue les tirages des clichés et les encadrements, etc... de manière artisanale, m’enfermant durant des heures dans un labo obscur. j’utilise des pellicules ilford, majoritairement 125 asa et 400 asa et du papier baryté souvent ton chaud. j’ai deux appareils, un leica pour le 24x36 et un rolleiflex pour le 6x6. le plaisir de l’artisanat. je fais aussi de la photo-souvenir avec un appareil numérique, il y a de la place pour tous les procédés photographiques. au travers de mes clichés, ma sensibilité s’exprime. le noir et blanc accentue cette approche. autant les photos en couleurs sont attrayantes dès le premier regard, autant les clichés en noir et blanc ont une force dans l’image. ils demandent à être regardés avec plus d’intensité, plus de temps. je ne « vole » jamais un portrait, je communique d’abord avec les personnages et ce n’est qu’ensuite, avec leur autorisation, que je les photographie. une communication doit être établie entre le photographié et le photographe sinon il n’y a pas de respect entre eux. geneviève regache payan (versión española) en 1982, sebastiao salgado ... joven fotógrafo brasileño no todavía conocido universalmente, me inició a la fotografía en “blanco y negro” y con el proceso anterior al “digital”, es decir con películas y trabajo en laboratorio. sebastiao viajaba por américa del sur y se detuvó en la ciudad de riobamba de la parte andina (ecuador) donde vivía yo. me pidió que le facilite la entrada en dos comunidades indígenas : cacha y agua santa. para agradecerme, me inició al desarrollo de la película e impresión de fotos. esto hubiera debido lanzar mi carrera de fotógrafo ... pero, no! esperé 20 años ... pero este encuentro con sebastião salgado determinó el estilo de fotos y encuentros con personas, lo que me gusta siempre durante mis viajes lejanos. miembro de la asociación art'gentik73, grupo de fotografos especialistas de fotos en blanco y negro, utilizando el proceso antiguo. todo el trabajo se hace de manera tradicional, me encierro durante horas en un laboratorio oscuro. yo uso películas, en su mayoría ilford 125 y 400 asa asa y papel especial ilford de tono cálido. tengo dos cámaras, una leica de 24x36 y una rolleiflex para 6x6. el gusto del trabajo artesanal.... hacer todo por si mismo. también hago fotos para recuerdos con una cámara digital, hay espacio para todos los procesos fotográficos. a través de mis imágenes, expreso mis sentimientos. el blanco y negro acentúa este enfoque. las fotografías en colores están atractivas desde la primera mirada, las fotografías en blanco y negro tienen una fuerza en la imagen. hay que mirarlas con más intensidad, con más tiempo. yo no "robo" nunca un retrato. en primer lugar, entró en comunicación con los personajes y sólo después, con su permiso, le tomó una fotografía. una comunicación debe ser establecida entre el fotografiado y el fotógrafo sino, no respeto las personas. geneviève regache payan (english version) i first began learning about black and white silver film photography in 1982 thanks to sebastiao salgado, a young brazilian photographer who was not yet world famous. he was travelling throughout south america and stopped at riobamba, a town in the andean high plateau (ecuador) where i was living at the time. he asked me to help him gain access to two indian villages: cacha and agua santa. as a way of thanking me he taught me the basics of film and picture development. that should have started off my “career” as a photographer but no, it didn’t.... i waited almost 20 years to seriously get back into it, but that chance meeting with sebastiao salgado was to play an important role in defining the style of my photographs and the encounters i enjoy during my travels across the globe. i am a member of the “artgentik73” and most of my photographs are in black and white, using the conventional method. i develop the films and make the prints as well as doing framing and so on, as an amateur craftsman. i spend long hours in the darkroom. the film i use is ilford, mainly 125 asa and 400 asa and baryté paper fb, often in “warmtone”. i have two cameras, a leica for 42x36 and a rolleiflex for 6x6. such are the pleasures of craftsmanship. i also take photo souvenirs with a digital camera. all photographic techniques and procedures have their place. my pictures reveal the scenes that have delighted me and express my sensibility. the black and white enhances this type of approach. while color photos attract the eye at first glance pictures in black and white produce more powerful images. they require more intensive contemplation and more time. i never “steal” a portrait. first i communicate with the people involved and only after i have their authorization do i photograph them. direct communication should always be established between subject and photographer, if not, there is no mutual respect. toutes les photos présentes sur ce site sont disponibles à la vente (présentation sur carton). utilisez le formulaire de contact pour toute demande de renseignements. © genevieve regache payan - 2016 / tous droits reservés mentions legales - plan du site une réalisation watoo web
